Live illustration package questions

All about the guests

What is included in the package?

I create individual watercolour illustrations of guests live during the event. All I need is a quick photo of a guest who visits my station, then they can continue with the party or stay and watch! Guests do not have to stay at the table to be painted.

Once I have finished painting, each illustration will be packaged into a sleeve with any customisations you desire.

Guests then take the pieces home at the end of the event as a keepsake!

What materials do you use?

I use the finest quality paper, brushes and materials including Daniel Smith watercolours. All illustrations are drawn on A5 or A4 paper (depending on preference) and placed in a clear sleeve with recycled board backing for guests to take home.

I take pride in using highquality materials which elevate the art produced. All of my materials are professional grade.

How many guests will be painted within this package?

Short answer, it varies. I will discuss this with you once your package is curated, as it depends on several factors including the order of the day! I paint a range of group sizes from singles up to four people. As an estimate I create about 4-5 pieces and hour approximately. We can discuss how many hours would suit your guest size or wishes at consultation (video call or email).

Can the same person be painted twice?

Ideally, no. To optimise the amount of guests painted, I ask guests to pose either as a single, duo or a family group once. This way, everyone gets a fair chance to be in a portrait. I realise some people may want a copy of the portrait, as only one person can take it home if its a group shot! In this case, I charge £25 per illustration (pp included excl international) which guests can order on the day (2 week turn around in peak season).

Who is this package for?

Wedding clients often use my illustrations as a favour for all of their guests. I have also attended weddings where it's first come first serve and lots of guests go home with an illustration, or it is for a select VIP group.

On the other hand, for events, illustration is a fantastic and exclusive addition to your entertainment offering for your guests. It can elevate your brand presence with customised paper designs and branded illustration sleeves. A favourite memory attending a 10 year brand anniversary where lots of guests explored the novelty and theatre of live illustration during the party.

Do you offer customisations?

Yes your illustrations are completely customisable with bespoke branding offerings or specific flowers or venue details.

What customisations do you offer?

• Bespoke designed wedding, brand or event monogram on each portrait i.e ‘ Laura and Callum, 2025’ or ‘ Tia’s 50th’.

• Bespoke event details designed and printed onto your portrait’s pre-event (i.e. branding/wedding flowers/location details).

Charged additionally starting at £100

All about the couple

Focussing solely on the wedding couple and their journey throughout the day. Think of moments with special loved ones, and key events such as the first dance, cake cutting, and ofcourse the wedding ceremony. This is all about the couple, there are no guest illustrations involved in this package.

It is a new package of up to two pieces of your day painted in high quality Daniel Smith watercolours and watercolour card. It will then be framed and presented to you at the end of my booking if there are no studio touch ups.

How does this work?

- Initial consultation

- 5 hours of painting

Choose a moment of the day to be commemorated in beautifully finished watercolour pieces. Choose key people or pets you may like to be in the paintings if they cannot be there. If I have a photo, I can work my magic and add them as if they were standing by you.

You may choose to have an A3 of the ceremony, the first look or even the first dance. We will have a video consultation to discuss specific details so I can create your perfect wedding portrait right there during your magical day.

Portraits can be bespoke sizes on request. The number of paintings will depend on the style, level of detail, and subject you choose.

General FAQs

How many people can you paint during the time?

If you book my service, you can expect up to 4 - 5 paintings per hour.

If a guest is not on the ‘VIP’ list, it is on a first come, first serve basis.

Remember, my service does not equate to charging ‘per person’. However, sometime, for a small wedding, it is possible for me to paint everyone myself.

Guests get to experience a live painting spectacle. Many will receive a painting, but ALL will have a novel and enjoyable experience.

How many people per ‘painting’?

A painting could consist of solos, duos and groups of up to 4 people.

Can you do more than 5 hours of painting?

I certainly can. Your package is completely customisable, and hours are up for discussion. I charge an hourly rate of £100 on top of my base package.

Can you do less than 5 hours?

Yes, if you are in the Midlands. There is a minimum booking of 2.5 hours painting charged by my hourly rate of £100.

When can you arrive?

I can attend the event whenever you think is best, right from the beginning so I can paint pre and post ceremony, or perhaps you would like me to arrive for the evening party. All these details would be ironed out during our initial zoom meeting.

What do you need to set up?

The details of the wedding coordinator or staff in charge to liaise with on arrival.

I need is a table and a chair (large enough to display my paintings next to me).

*I must be under a canopy/cover if I am outside due to summer heat or rain!

Can I paint the wedding couple?

My couples package is perfect for this. I spend the five hours creating a live watercolour piece of a moment of your special day.

If you choose the guest package, you can buy a portrait after the event choosing from a selection of styles to commission a chosen photo from your day. Prices from £75.

Can you travel?

I am happy to travel! I am based in Birmingham, UK. Travel is not included in package prices: I charge the standard rate per mile, train ticket /plane, and taxi prices if incurred.

How far will you travel?

If your location is 3 hours or more away, I would need a 1-night hotel stay, mainly if it is an evening event.

Any location outside the UK is welcome! All travel expenses would have to be covered, along with a one—to two-night stay in a local area.
